Ballymaloe Foods is a family-run food manufacturing business. We are slowly growing and looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team to assist our Maintenance Manager. Function:
The Maintenance Operative will work on the production floor, assisting with set-up, running, changeover and smooth operation of machinery. They will support the Maintenance Manager and Production Team Lead and provide cover when they are not available. They will have a good understanding of the tasks that need to be carried out to maintain the smooth running of the production floor. They will assist with and ensure machinery is cleaned to the required standards, ensuring longevity and best performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate machinery and ensure smooth running of production lines.
· Assist the Maintenance Manager with tasks and projects, preventative, and reactive maintenance.
· Understand, take part and monitor start up procedures for all lines.
· Edit / create SOPs for machine functions and operations.
· Monitor, take part and ensure smooth line changeovers.
· Ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety standards are observed and that records are accurately kept.

Machinery Cleaning
· Write, maintain and update SOPs for cleaning of machinery and equipment.
· Train colleagues and new staff on cleaning procedures for equipment.
· Supervise that machinery and equipment are cleaned correctly, that SOPs are followed and signed off by colleagues.
· Oversee correct use of chemicals and dosing quantities.

General Operations
· Seek improvements where opportunity exists.
· Support Plant Health and Safety programs and ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements.
· Support Food Safety and Quality programs and ensure compliance with all food safety and quality requirements. Ensure that all staff understand and observe Ballymaloe Foods food safety and quality procedures, and documentation is completed as required
· Maintain a clean and neat working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, and control of chemicals. Instill within the area a sense of awareness and pride regarding plant appearance and product care.
· Continue to work to 5S standards.
· Sustain PM program and monitor and update as required.

Staff
· Contribute to a positive employee working environment.
· Provide training to new or inexperienced operators.
· Engage with all employees on a continuous basis and develop a strong team culture.

Qualifications & Experience:
· Experience/knowledge of the food industry is a benefit.
· Mechanical experience / Tig welding experience an advantage.
· There is an opportunity to take part in a Level 6 or 7 Manufacturing Engineering apprenticeship if the candidate wants to engage in further education.

Skills and Abilities:
· Excellent problem-solving ability
· Mechanical knowledge and understanding
· A calm disposition and ability to work under pressure at times
· Experience with or willing to learn CAD
· Experience with computers
· Provide kind guidance to new or inexperienced operators

Additional Requirements:
· May be required to work outside of normal working hours due to production demands.
· Driver’s license an advantage.
