A tasty way to get children involved in the kitchen, weighing and adding in the ingredients for the cheese and Ballymaloe Smooth Relish mixture. It can also be prepped in advance and kept in the fridge, ready for a quick meal for busy families.


  • 8 tortilla wraps
  • For the cheese mixture
  • 150g Gruyere cheese (grated)
  • 150g Cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 100g cooked ham (diced)
  • 50g cream
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 spring onions, sliced (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic (mashed)
  • 1/4 red pepper (diced, optional)
  • 1 tsp of chopped thyme or parsley
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp Ballymaloe Smooth Relish

Dietary Suitability


  1. Put all the cheese mix ingredients together in a bowl, stir and season with salt and pepper
  2. Place a tortilla in a dry frying pan on a low heat
  3. Spread 75g of the cheese mixture over half the tortilla and fold the other half over to cover it
  4. Cook for 3-5 minutes on each side until the cheese mix has melted and the quesadilla is rich golden brown
  5. Remove to a chopping board and slice into 2/4 wedges to serve.
